Keywords:
Cell biology, Golgi complex, cancerMy current interest is studying the role of the Golgi complex in the development and maintenance of carcinogenesis. The Golgi complex is the final site where a class of molecules, the glycosphingolipids (GSLs), undergoes the final synthesis reactions mediated by specific enzymes or proteins (for example GOLPH3).
GSLs actively regulate numerous aspects of cell biology such as apoptosis, cell proliferation, transport and are therefore closely associated with pathologies such as cancer.
The objective is the identification of new biomarkers capable of allowing an accurate stratification of cancer patients, whose ultimate goal is to aspire to Precision Medicine.
To pursue these objectives I apply biochemical techniques, molecular biology techniques aimed at analyzing the molecular mechanisms underlying cancer
