Keywords:
Cell biology, BARS, pharmacology, traffickingThe research activity of the lab is to define the molecular mechanisms that underline the intracellular carrier formation required to support membrane traffic in physiology and pathology and use this knowledge to identify new pharmacological target.
We have characterized a novel fissioning machinery that controls several exocytic and endocytic transport routes. We have defined how this protein complex-machinery is assembled and regulated and how it cooperates with local membrane lipids during the formation of the basolaterally directed post-Golgi carriers.
Based on these knowledges and expertise, using advanced microscopy, biochemical and cell biological techniques the lab is focus on:
- membrane transport alteration in cancer (endo- and exo-cytosis) and viral infection;
- membrane transport alteration in lipodystrophy;
- lipid droplets regulation and cellular functions in physiology and pathology;
- developing of new cell imaging techniques.
